Inexpensive Glass Dip Pens

I've been trying to find a glass dip pen, and aside local antique stores and ebay (which had a few, but none of which were really my style), I haven't had much luck, aside from the ones that JH make. I don't want anything over the top, just a simple, perhaps colored, glass pen. No feathers. No gemstones or metal strands wrapping around the pen.

I was wondering - what stores have you bought yours from online? Ones in the US are pefered...and hopefully, ones that carry dip pens under 30 dollars.

Thanks in advance, everyone! Who knew that trying to find one would be so difficult?

eBay vendor bidthebid sometimes has some glass dip nibs available, as does cz-design.

You will need to drill out a dip pen handle and fit the nib into the hole. I wrap the end of mine with teflon tape because the nib is smaller than the hole.

As well eBay vendor jacko4j has a couple of whole glass pens with glass nibs up for sale.

You can also look for Spors pens, which tend to be crescent fillers.

I have two Spors pens I'd love to sell. The glass nibs are nice and smooth but I can't get them apart for re-saccing. They'd be perfect for dip pens. PM me.

Hmm, that's a pity since I happen to have two in needs of re-saccing....

Edited to add: Aha! Here's a thread about the secret to them.

It's supposed to take a heat gun and patience. :headsmack: Here's the post I read about it: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...81&hl=spors

I also got one apart using heat and patience. I used the ziploc-bag-in-warm-water approach, as I don't have a heat gun.

Pendemonium has glass dip pens. The entire pen is glass, not just the nib. Go into writing instruments -> dip pens -> glass dip pens. Prices start at $20. I bought one at the Ohio pen show, and I use it alot.

Go on.... what exactly do you do?

Well, I am new at this, so I don't have section pliers (or a new sac yet... ). I put the pen into a heavyweight ziploc bag and immersed it in increasingly-warm (but less than simmering) water and let it sit for a few minutes, then removed it and carefully tugged at and (very) gently wiggled the section with my hands alone. I repeated this quite a number of times. It took a *lot* of patience; I thought I wasn't getting anywhere but I kept at it until I got a bit of budging, and then just continued gently until it came apart.
