Pilot 57

I found this pen recently, a Pilot 57 made in Japan. This one is an eyedropper filled pen. The Indian made Pilots were all EDs but this is the first Japanese Pilot ED that I have came across, were these ED versions common or popular in Japan? When was this pen likely to have been produced?

Hari,

I don't know this particular model, but I have seen similar Pilot FP's, and told they are from '70's. These are available in 14k or steel nibs. I have seen variations of these models, the common thing being the unique nib. They are mostly C/C fillers, and sometimes eyedroppers.

I have never used Pilot, but they are quite renowned here for being very good. I have seen them going for 250-1000rs, depending on condition, and nib.

Do tell me how this beauty performs.

Take care,

Sas

It works fine despite the fact that its nib was badly corroded due to the last owner's carelessness. I have a few similar Indian made Pilots with 14K nibs. Was curious since I had never came across a Japanese Pilot ED of this type.

Regards,

Hari

Hi Hari,

I too got one today. This used to be quite a cult pen in early 1970's. I can not post photos here in this forum due some disc space exhaustion reason [ or because I have only free membership] , so here is the link my blog where I have put up the pictures :

Hi Soumitra, congrats on a superb find.

Can you pls let me know the exact date code on the base/tail of the nib. I think what I see there is 5 60, there should be a letter preceding these three digits which I cannot see clearly.

3 would indicate a Medium nib.

also the section on your pen is different without the nipple.

What are the markings on your pen other than the stickers?

Best
