Hi everyone:)

I am new to this site and to the BIG world of pens:D

I got from my mom a pen and pencil set. I think it is from around 1975 she baught it. It is in a box and the leather case is red with a rose on it. On the pen and pencil it is engraved roses around them in the middle. On the top it is written Cross 14kt and also the numbers 1/20. Does that mean they made 20 of this edition?? In the box it is a plate with the number NO. 1541, but i dont know what this is for. How mutch is a pen set like this worth? Is this a lady edition?

I hope there is someone with more experience than me that can help me with this:D

Best regards,

Ingrid, Norway

It is 14kt gold filled instead of 14kt gold plate. Thicker more gold than plate. I think the 1/20 means it is one twentieth gold by weight of the pen.

Sounds like what they now call the Classic Century (current production MSRP $190USD) UNLESS it is the discontinued clip-less set with the flower engraving on the pen.

Since Cross has a excellent reputation for writing instruments, the Classic designs have a reputation of being of excellent condition, they have life time warranties, and such, they are generally considered keepers/users. I am sure some people collect them, but I have yet to run across them.

Unless it is the discontinued clip-less, or was owned by a famous person w/provenience, I would guess that a very clean one has a market value of half your local retail.

YMMV

Thank you so mutch for your reply  I put out a picture of the set now if that is moore helpfull. It is a clip-less pen and have a lifetime warranty card to go with it. It is gold filled and has the flower engravin as you see. Does this make it less valued?

Near mint? Does that mean in good condition, or not used? Etherways i would love to start my own collections of pens. Do you know if they do "lady pen" in Cross and other brands. Where is the best place to go and look?
