Matte Black vs. Lacquer Black -- and both with gold trim

Which of this combo. do you prefer, and why? I see the matte black is cheaper -- but some might say less "out there" as well. Am curious to learn. I have mostly lacquer black, GT pens, so don't know much about matte black.

Would be fun to see how folks view these two shades/styles of black. Express yourself!! :0)

Thanks to all!

I do prefer the matte finish, I think it is because of the tactile feeling... but even from a visual point of view it's appealing. Moreover, matte gives me the sensation to be more resistant in time to scratches and dirt.

It is strange that it is considered cheaper than the lacquer finish. If I remember correctly matte is the only variant the Sonnet (Parker) is only available with steel nib...

Frankly, I like both. But, if I have a choice, I will choose a matte finish. When I was buying Danitrio raw ebonite pens, I chose a matte finish when it was available. When I get around to buying another Nakaya, I will probably opt for an "unpolished" or a matte finished black lacquer.

My reasons are very close to diplomat's. I like the more tactile feel of a matte finish, the visual appeal, and the sense of durability. That sense of durability allows me to feel the pen is intended to be used, and used a lot.

I also wonder that matte finishes are considered a cheaper or a "lesser" finish. Why? But it is.

The difference in price between the old version matte black and black lacquer Sonnets comes from, I believe, the nib. The matte one has a steel nib, while the one on the lacquer is gold.

Disregarding that (and I would), I'd choose the matte one. If it's understated, let it be totally understated.
