Parker 17 Lady

This is a mini review of the mini Parker 17 Lady.

I know I told myself I wouldn't get another Parker 17 after reviewing my blue one (see https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=47238 ). However when I saw this little burgundy one, exactly as I had when I was a child, I couldn't resist it.

The Parker 17 Lady is similar in every respect to the Parker 17, only smaller. It is, to be frank, tiny. It is barely longer than my middle finger, and only just over half the diameter of my little finger. It is a scale model of the full size pen in every way except the nib width - which is normal.

The pen sizes are:-

  1. Capped 117mm (4.6")

Uncapped 107mm (4.2")

Posted 128mm (5")

Max Diameter 9.5mm (3/8")

Pocket Clip Length 37mm (1.45")

The pen is lightweight, small and quite endearing. The nib on this example is a nice, wet, medium. The width of the lines are quite surprising given the small size of the pen. There is a surprising amount of flex from the hooded nib, allowing a certain degree of expression while writing.

All in all, if you want a good, small pen, a Parker 17 Lady is an excellent choice. It is suitable for child size hands, though I know from my own experience that they are not childproof (what pen is?).

Regards

Richard.

english parkers are of outstanding quality and are very sober in terms of aesthetics. Congrats on the pen.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Hmm, must get an uncapped photo now that I own (rather than have to borrow) a digital camera.

My hand span is 254mm (exactly 10"), so may be fairly large - though they are the standard size for me..

Regards,

Richard.

I have a Parker 17 Lady which I bought many years ago for my wife but who doesn't like FPs, so I have adopted it into my small collection. It is an excellent smooth writer with good flow and seems to suit my writing style. Even though it is small and my hands are average sized for a male, I find it easy to use, particularly when posted.

Favourite pens in my collection (in alpha order): Caran d'Ache Ecridor Chevron F and Leman Black/Silver F; Parker 51 Aerometric M and F; Parker 61 Insignia M, Parker Duofold Senior F; Platinum #3776 Century M; Sailor 1911 Black/Gold 21 Kt M; Sheaffer Crest Palladium M/F; Sheaffer Prelude Silver/Palladium Snakeskin Pattern F; Waterman Carene Deluxe Silver F

As I said I ought to do, here are a couple of photos in comparison with a 'Bloody British Burgundy' P51:

I have two of these cute lightweight pens, bought from a well-known auction site. Both are smooth writers and required no more than a good flush to be good to go. I was amazed that the ink sacs were still intact after all this time. Really pleased with them.
