Pilot Pen

A few months back I acquired this Pilot FP, there is no marking on this pen except PILOT on the cap. The pen has a fixed squeeze filler with a pliglass like sac. Its body is metallic with gold like plating and a chased pattern. Which model is this?

Hi,

...Hmm...got to love the edit feature! I'd certainly trust Stan's experience here!

It is a really nice pen though, I hope you enjoy it!

It looks like a Pilot 50G in a very nice gold wrapper. The nib, feed, filling system and body style look the same anyway.

I am quite sure Stan sold a set of these on eBay a few months back... I bet he will pop in with some good info.

This is an interesting pen. The section unit is a Pilot Suber 50g, which was a school pen. It had a plated nib and a cheap aerometric filler. However, the rest of the pen looks more like an upper grade Pilot Super 100. I just checked, and the 50g sections fit the 100s, so perhaps the parts were married at some time in the past, or maybe this is a very nice 50g that I have never seen before.

The Pilot super line from the 50's and 60's is quite extensive. A lot of colors and styles and new variations keep turning up. Here is a small rainbow of Pilot Super 100's:

The pens looks like the one I sold some time ago with a matching mechanical pencil.

I have another in pale silvery gold, almost a very light champagne color. The section/barrels are, without a doubt, not a mismatch as the probability of having two similar is far too great. The champagne model has a black sac, not a blue, so the Korean connection may be tenuous and I have seen other pens known to have been made in Japan with blue sacs. Both the pen sold and the champagne were unmarked on the barrel, cap, or section. The set that was sold had manufacturers identification numbers on bands on the barrel. I cannot comment on whether they are Pilot 50s, or whether they mate together, as I have none available. They do fit the barrel of a Pilot 80 but, not a Pilot 60, or 150. The only difference appears to be the type of nib.

Side by side the pen is an exact match to the Pilot 80 and all parts are interchangeable..

Thanks for all the inputs. This pen in fact has the silvery pale gold plating, it has not come out properly in the photos. The sac is Blue translucent and the nib has the following marking:

PILOT

SUPER

QUALITY

(Breather Vent)

JIS mark

<2>

0162 (engraved upside down)

The sac press bar has PILOT on it in the same font as on the cap lip.

Hari
