Some Vintage Indian Pens Found In Kolkata Today.

Wow. You've done a really good job taking "oh dear, what a lot of rubbish" and cleaning them up to make them "wow, those are interesting vintage pens". The difference between before and after photos really is amazing.

I love the Wilson 'duofold' even with the crack in the lip. Was Wilson officially linked with Parker or was it just pinching the designs?

Too many pens, too little time!

Finally got this pen working , well after a little struggle ! It is fine pen at 50+ years, must have been a popular pen in its time. The ink ink is Sulekha Crystal Violet.

I visited Calcutta Pen Hospital today to buy some feeders, nibs and old pens that I could restore. 20 pens could be restored, though some are a bit distorted. Paid Rs 50 per pen. Most of these pens are un-used old stock. Hope you like this.

Diploma ED small pens- the resin is of beautiful colour, these pens need nibs. Clip is poor quality!

fpn_1418078002__img_0001.jpg

Diploma Vaccume- Piston filler pens restored in working condition, Please note the permanent bulge on the barrel due to 50 years of non usage. Got 4 of these.

Two pieces Platinex slim hooded nib ED pens, similar style as parker 21.

fpn_1418078397__img_0004.jpg

Three pieces Platinex , similar to Cross Townsend design, one in all SS body.

fpn_1418078509__img_0005.jpg

One unknown [ possibly Platinex] all SS body pen. Please not the depression spots on the section due to cap clip pressure for 50 odd years!

ERA 831,a piston filler, very similar to Camlin 47, in good working condition.

fpn_1418078776__img_0007.jpg

A pen named Blue Nile, nice two tone IPG nib from 50 years back- intact condition.

One more Wilson Rosy Pen in different colour- intact condition.

fpn_1418078978__img_0009.jpg

Three more pens - un-identified brands- intact condition. The demonstrator is used and nib is damaged.

Wilson Slim pen- do not know the model number. Please can any one tell us. Interestingly, Montex, being a much later company than Wilson, had made many of these Wilson Slim models, they used to name it " butterfly"!!

Thank you Sir. I have seen this clip design in many later Montex pens and even in many no name brands. Do not know if there is a name for design.

Platinex 615N from Artex pen company. We used this pen in school, very good eyedropper pen. The nib is new, minor damage to clip plating due to flaking. Otherwise this pen is very well preserved. Neglected new old stock! Very happy to get one unit of this pen, nostalgic appeal for me.

Thanks for sharing.

The Platinex used to be the cheaper offering from Artex. I remeber the pen used to retail at Rs.2/- in 1985 and Artex 110 used to be Rs.6/-..

1985 I was in 3rd year marine engineering at Kolkata and remember we were all using Reynolds 045 ball point pen for fast writing. I think 1981~82 was last I used a fountain pen . Thank you for sharing this memory- please share as much you might recall about Artex, Flora and Platinex and other contemporary pens. Please also refer in case you have seen any documented details anywhere- too curious about these pens history.

The end of the body (the metal 'button' part) looks like the one on the Parker Vector, but not the rest of the pen. The Vector had a metal section and an arrow clip. With luck, someone else can pinpoint this model.

Finally found out, this pen is modeled after Parker 85. Here is the link : http://parkercollector.com/parker85.html

this wilson pen seems to have many influences. the shape and clip look like the Sheaffer Fashion-II

The nib and the Wilson lettering style and super quality on the next line closely copies Pilot.

This pen is marked " Made in Japan" - so strictly speaking this is not a Indian pen! However this was bought and recovered later, in the same lot of scrap pens from Calcutta pen Hospital, so better to group it here. Anyone knows about this brand name from Japan?

From the scrap pens of Calcutta Pen hospital, I was able to retrieve one genuine Artex 120 Supreme. I had been looking for this model due to nostalgia and feeling very good about the find. Reasonably well preserved condition, though the body needs one mild buffing to remove the scratches. Please note in our schooldays in 1970's Artex 120 and 120 supreme used to be very popular student pen, 120 supreme used to be a bit longer about 8~10 mm and the cap finial used to be a bit more conical than roundish. Simple ED filling but an excellent pen for school days!

These are two camlin 36 look alike pens from the same scrap lot. The pens had no nib/ feeder, which I have fitted from stock and there is no brand/ model stamping anywhere. Even a local company called Morrison had this model- can not really figure out the identity of the pens. The cap is well preserved, body would need light buffing.
