First Kitless Fountain Pen

Recommended Posts

As promised when I introduced myself - this is my first kitless fountain pen.

"Ice cube crush honey" acrylic. Bock number 5 medium steel nib. Cartridge/converter. Cap to barrel single start 12mm and section 9mm. Clip is a vintage one - I bought a few of them so it will appear again! Length capped 155mm - uncapped 140mm. I have learned a lot making this pen. Your comments and advice will be welcomed. Thanks.

Very pretty acrylic and I like the name of the acrylic, too. It definitely does look like honey. The pen looks quite lovely (and edible :P) !

Congratulations. That is lovely. It looks as if the section is on the longer side, which I like too.

Thanks for all the nice comments - all good for the ego! To reply to Ted A - I suppose the section length is determined by the feed and the need to have a "socket" for the end of the converter, so perhaps it's just that I used Bock. I am a learner here so maybe one of the more experienced members may comment on this. I find the whole process fascinating. I just like fountain pens and the idea of being able to make one is great! I have other colours of this acrylic so more may yet come. Thanks again.

I've stewed over the size of the section many a time. Mine usually range from 1.10" down to around .75". I think there are other makers around here who get all the way down to .50" or pretty close. I usually make mine pretty close to an inch because that fits my fat fingers well and I assume that everyone else also has fat fingers :).

Come see some of my handmade pens!!!
