Help! Conklin Pressure Bar Came Out!

Recommended Posts

I just found 3 nice pens today at an antique store-and this nice Conklin needed new sac. When taken apart the pressure bar fell out and I can not find a diagram or procedure anywhere to put it back in. Any help?

Looks like a lovely pen, and beautiful, flexible nib.

as far as I believe to put back this pen is easy

the pressure bar must be parallel to the lever

Ink Sack

Test the Lever

however something is missing are you sure that's what is left of the entire pressure bar as I believe it should form a J shape bar to begin with (why a J because it's shape is supposedly used to hold the pressure bar in place just below the lever unless there is something in the barrel that is used to hold the bar and sac

Close the pen

Conkjlin lever bars are a bit different as I recall, the bar should have a piece that sticks up about in the center. This piece hooks through the bottom of the lever (it has a hole at the bottom. The sack keeps it from rattling if the proper size is used. It takes patience, so good luck and congratulations on a nice find!!

Does anyone have a picture or diagram? I'm not even sure which direction to put it back in!

if what I think is right the "hole" on the lever must attach the the "hooked-loop" of the pressure bar if that does not make sense I'm not sure meaning the entire flat side must be touching the sac

Thanks guys. I got it back together and it works well. Sadly the barrel cracked a little when putting the section in, so I'm going to have to try and correct that.

Good news is that the nib is the most unbelievably flexible nib I've ever ever experienced and is really a joy to write with!
