Pelikan Rolled Gold Double L - What Model?

Recommended Posts

Hello All

I have picked up a Pelikan FP with an oblique nib with 14C-585 inscribed on it and what looks like 04 on the base of the nib. Capped it measures 13cm and 15cm posted. It looks like an M400 but I can't find any information about a one which is completely finished in roll gold. Any ideas? Also what would the estimated value be?

Regards

David

Size and design wise (long, torpedo blind cap and a pointy finale on the cap) it looks like a 400NN.

looks very similar to pelikan p700a

but the site says p700a is solid gold and it has continous barley pattern you have interuppted. also there is space to get name engraved , which is absent in yours.

It looks very much like a 520NN to me. Beautiful pen. I understand these are not that common but my knowledge of these pens is limited.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

Many thanks for all the input, I would definitely say it is a 520NN, Carlos in answer to your question - I picked it up for about USD80. However not every cloud has a silver lining : the section has a crack in it ;) so this will be my next challenge in replacing or repairing - I was thinking of sending it to Pelikan in Germany for this.

OK, I got the MB version the 742 for €160, and the 520 is prettier.

What sort of nib does it have a semi-flex or a 'flexi'/maxi-semi flex. My 742 is 'flexi'.

Thoroughly gorgeous pen !

I have the "modern version" in the M760 which is a lovely pen as well, but the 400NN configuration is simply a more elegant version of the pen.

Is the crack in the section fully through the polymer, or is it only partially cracked ? It's possible that the previous owner simply cranked the nib assembly into the section too hard, and partially cracked the section. If so, this may be a more straightforward repair than a complete section replacement. What's the rest of the pen's condition ? Does the piston move easily, for example ?

Even with the cracked section, though, this is a very saleable or "swappable" Pelikan pen if you decide not to keep it.

These are lovely pens!

I bought my 520N (the model between the 520 and 520NN) a few months ago for 70 Euros at a local second hand shop.

It cleaned up very well, it is in very, very good condition!

I am very happy with that beauty.

That is a real sumgai find! This pen was only made in 1956 and is listed at penboard.de at $1,500...

When you have the opportunity please post some pictures of this pen.
