An Ode To Platinum Mix-Free Inks

So I've been looking at Platinum Mix-Free inks for a while now and got a few bottles for Christmas. I got Smoke Black, Earth Brown, Flame Red, and Sunny Yellow. These colours on their own aren't much exciting, though they by no means are bad inks, but I'm REALLY impressed with the inks performance.

The inks seem to perform REALLY well in every pen I've tried them in, be it modern high end (Platinum Sai M Nib) or vintage (Waterman 52/Parker 21). The flow is very good, reliable and not overly wet, just the right amount for every pen I've put it in. The ink also cleans out of the pens really easily, almost on par with Parker Washable Blue or Waterman Blue, which is saying quite a bit.

The real beauty of the inks though is how they perform when mixed. I was a little nervous about how it would perform when mixed as far as shading goes. But let me tell you, it GREATLY exceeded my expectations. The inks shade amazingly well, better than most. They're even water resistant, granted not water proof, but they don't totally wash away.

I really can't see myself getting other inks other than some highlighter ink. I'm going to get myself the full set of inks and some small pipette bottles for each of the inks so I can count drops to get ratios for mixing right and start a mixing recipe book. With all the inks I can make pretty well any colour/shade that I want on a whim, just add a few drops to a sample vial and fill up the pen.

I think these are must try inks for any/all fountain pen users, I really can't stress that enough. I think you'll be really surprised at the performance, I certainly was. Outperforms many of the other inks I've tried by far (and I have tried A LOT of inks).

I will post some photos of the red/brown/black that I put together for my daily use ink and the amount of shading it can pull off once I get a chance to get a good photo.

We look forward to seeing them!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
