Parker Penman "fantastic Ink" Or "clogger Bad Boy"!

Francisco Pena

Recommended Posts

Occasionally i use Penman ink, i usually use Quink or currently Waterman and Montblanc.

Never had problems with Penman, i never really leave the pens with ink more than two or three weeks without use, and also clean them every six months.

I like the intensity of colors and shadows that allows, i don't understand the astronomical price of ink. I've seen bottles sold for 100 euros!

I was fortunate to find a few bottles in a stationery that was in judicial sale at the time, I paid 4 euros per bottle and 10 euro for a 20oz bottle of Quink.

In my experience, only the blue (Sapphire, if I remember well) has always been a terrific performer, in the best sense, an all-time favourite. In fact, some Private Reserve´s blues wanted to be like that Parker... whose saturation, sheen and double tones were a reference for other makers.

All other colours of PenMan (Emerald, Ebony, &c.) have proved, to me at least, terrible and useless.

PS: I always envy you lucky finders of remote treasures!

Parker Penman Ebony was my favorite ink when it was in production and I never had any problems with it in a variety of pens. I was not happy when it was discontinued.

Probably both. Some inks perform well but can be problematic when pens are neglected for extended periods of time.

Ruby and Mocha both work well for me. I use them for practicing Calligraphy in pens that don't always get used regularly. I have not had any problems with either.

Congrats you will love these inks.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I've used Penman Ebony off and on since the 80s without problem.

(By the way, I like the Penman bottles--they're worth saving to refill with other ink.)

Ooo that Mocha is a lovely well behaved brown. It lives, frugally in my Parker 45. I only have three cartridges left.

Great find. Enjoy them . . .

I have never experienced any of the Parker Penman Inks..... hoping to find a gentle soul in 2014 that can sell me a bottle at a reasonable price.. I love the sheen on the Sapphire.. I would love to compare it with Akkerman Shocking Blue.. :puddle:
