Delta Momo Design 30Th Anniversary Carbon Fibre Limited Edition Fountain Pen Review

I've searched for reviews on the Delta Momo Design 30th Anniversary fountain pen in orange and carbon fibre.

I cannot really find a useful review from someone that has one and uses it regularly.

I've read that these are well made pens but there is some debate regarding the titanium nibs.

I love the design of the pen but I am concerned with the titanium nib. I know that the titanium is a flexible nib but have read issues with poor ink flow starting and skipping etc.

I do not want to spend the amount of money on this pen without the guidance of someone that has actually got one and their critical feedback on this pen.

I look forward to hearing any feedback (good and bad) from anyone that has got one of these pens and has had some good mileage out of it.

Are these pens worth the money?

Many thanks in advanced.

David.

David, how fortunate that you have posted this question today. I will be publishing a review soon. In the meantime, please CLICK HERE for the (longest) unboxing (ever) and first ink photos.

Mint,

Thanks for the pictures, these are in more detail than I have come across on the net.

I have seen and held one of these pens but have not come across a balanced review of what these are like to fill and write with (good and bad)

I look forward to your balanced and critical review.

Thanks for your time and help.

David.

Initial thoughts: I bought this with the intention of using it as a daily writer for my personal bullet journal using a small size (A6?) Rhodia Webbie - hence, the choice of a fine nib. Out of the box, ink flow is perfect. I write fast, and so far loaded with Asa Gao, it keeps up just fine. The titanium nib provides friction and nice feedback off the Rhodia paper, but not at all scratchy - I like that. This is in contrast to the liquid gliding feel of the 1.3mm stub of my Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age fountain pen. My only gripe thus far is the lack of an ink window, but I've grown used to that with the Bronze Age. The ratcheting piston fill mechanism appeals to me. The look isn't for everyone - but, it is definitely for me. I love the mix of titanium, steel, sterling silver, orange celluloid, and carbon fibre.

For reference, pictured below with the DVOS and DV Piston. It's essentially the same size as the DV Piston.

I've just posted a more detailed comparison of the Delta Momo 30th with the Dolce Vita Oversize and Oro Piston FP's.

To me, an interesting comparison, at least stylistically, is between the Delta Momo Design 30th Anniversary Limited Edition and the Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age:

Many thanks for your time in writing the review.

This has helped me decide in buying one.

Happy writing

David.

I haven't tried the Momo; however, I do have a Delta Titanio with Titanium nib. I haven't had any flow problems with it and it flexes as advertised (similar, but not identical, to vintage semi-flex nibs). In my experience there's always a tradeoff between smoothness and flexibility, unless the nib tip has fairly severe baby bottom (which would cause flow problems) there will be some loss of smoothness as the nib flexes while writing.

I bought the Momo about a year ago purely for its design, Momo being an icon in Italiian car history. Although it writes perfect, it didn't become one of my daily writers, but that has more to do with my MB addiction.
