Repairing A Rotring Core

Dear Forums,

 

I own a Rotring Core, seen as the top-most pen in this photograph.

 

Unfortunately, the section is cracked! The thin plastic wall with the threads has a crack that is making its way around it, and I don't know what to do. Has anyone fixed anything like this?

 

Here's an image of it completely disassembled.

Number one: How did you remove the feed? I can't find a way to remove it. Number two: put some superglue on the crack (without the feed in the section) and let the superglue seep in and dry. this should form a seal and a tight bond. Also, remove the orange sliding thingy. You may have to tinker a bit with it.

No. Not superglue. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a pen screwed up by the use of superglue to "repair" a problem.

 

A solvent containing methylene chloride will likely solvent weld the crack closed. You need to clamp the crack closed until it hardens (at least 24 hours), and then blend/polish the repair.
