Thanks for reviewing the new release Kevin, I had been looking forward to this.

Excellent review. I have the older version of this pen with similar appearance. I had to pull it out and compare it to your pics to notice the differences. Looks like your version has more of an exposed nib where mine is more hooded. Also on the cap, the gold band at the top by the clip is thicker on yours and the gold band on the other end is styled slightly differently. Glad that you're happy with yours.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

I also have an older one that I got from Speerbob. I think that one was made at Pilot's plant in Thailand,as its fit and finish is not as good as the review pen. It's also has a hooded nib and is a bit narrower than the review pen.

The nib on the review pen is excellent. It's a proper Japanese fine, and is quite smooth: one of the best I've ever used. It's right up there with the SF nib on my Custom 74 (not as soft, but certainly as smooth). All those people who say that a fine nib can never be smooth should try one of these.

also the hooded nib is invariably plated steel not gold IIRC.

It is Korean that's why.

Still missing the "White Stripe" MYU and black brother MYU with transparent section!

(Has somebody a "Murex" with a working clock?

(Thanks to Steve I found the "Black Stripe Capless" and the "White Stripe Capless")

I've got a vintage Elite, the new one would be nice too! Great compromise instead of using my oh-so-precious M90s and MYU701...

My M90 cost me a very similar amount of money to the Elite (but I got in early).

Great review. :)

I have one of these and love it. I got it from Engeika. I'm curious, is that the standard box for this pen? Mine came in a regular Pilot grey box, and didn't include the carrying pouch...

If I was able to find this pen, I would have bought it.

I've got one on order from Engeika

You have to register as a member to see the Pilot pens for sale. Isn't difficult - there's a sign-up in the left hand column on the page; just arrow down. You get 10% off his prices if you do. IIRC the cost of the 95S I have on order is $84 + shipping. It's about a 10 day delay on despatch (but I'm not rushed).

I know of a UK supplier but they are hellishly expensive in comparison

EDIT - just checked. It is $84.60. Nibs available EF, F and M

nice pen

I picked up one of these on eBay. I couldn't decide whether to buy an F or an EF, but since I have so many EFs I chose the F. Fine line and SMOOTH right out of the box! I may have to get the EF anyway...

Mine doesn't say "Elite" on it - just "E".
