Help Identifying The Authenticity Of This Meisterstuck Rollerball

A few years ago I acquired this from a friend for free because it needed some work. The end was missing and there is a crack on the cap and he didn't have the urge to get it repaired. I ended up throwing it in a drawer and forgot about it for a couple years only to rediscover it now. I was looking to get this repaired but after looking around I'm questioning whether this is a fake or not. The closest MB dealer is nearly 2 hours away so I wanted to get a good opinion on it first before I drove up there.

 

I'm no Montblanc expert. I'm not quite sure what model this is

 

 

 

That is the serial number, FB15833. From other pictures I've seen different fonts

 

It says W. Germany. I read that serial numbers were introduced around 91? I'm no history expert but it was referred to just Germany in 89/90?

It looks OK to me, although admittedly the serial number looks a bit crooked and isn't in the current font. It's an early 1990's pen though for it to have W.Germany on it.

 

Can you not phone your dealership and ask if you can mail it to them? It will probably need to go to your Head Office anyway, so maybe you could just send it there.

 

If authentic it should cost about $80 if you're lucky, but you can ask the question. I'm not sure whether the cost of a new cap is automatically included in the first tier service, but the cone definitely is.
