Purple Pens?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone :)

I haven't posted in a while, but I am sort of on the lookout for another pen. I had a look at my collection and noticed that I have lots of black pens, greens, blues, reds, oranges, golds, silvers and even something pinkish, but no purple. This is odd, since purple is my favourite colour. I realized then that I haven't really come across many purple pens at all... Maybe I am looking at the wrong brands/places?

So I thought that I might ask here for some guidance! What purple or lilac (light purple) pens do you know/like? I don't care much about brands or price, I'm just interested in lots of different suggestions :)

Thanks in advance for lots of ideas!

The purple one is a Rosetta Napoleon. It is a short, thick, cartridge pen that writes well.

The cap screws off, and screws to the barrel for posting. It is a bit short to use unposted.

A very solid pen at about $35. Other colors, too.

The teal pen is a Pilot 78G at half the price.

I love, love, love my Pelikan m625 Auberine. :cloud9: A very nice purple with silver accents.

Lepine Indigo, lilac (this is a tiny pen, but does well posted). Costs around $100, as I recall.

Visconti Rembrandt, purple (I have the eco-roller, but I believe there is an FP). It was a gift, and I don't recall the cost offhand.

Edison, your choice of style and flavor of purple (I have a Pearl in Electric Violet, which shimmers and has a swirl of red). Costs around $275, give or take. He has access to a purple celluloid, and I believe a purple ebonite, plus several very cool purple acrylics.

Seems to me there is a purple Levenger True Writer, too, but I could be wrong about that..

Uh, yeah, purple IS my favorite color in everything except cars (cars must be RED).

I have the gorgeous purple Rosetta Napoleon on my wish list. Picasso has a few purple pens IIRC. Duke has a purple "ladies" pen. I came across all of these through looking at pens on ebay.

I forgot to add that Fountain Pen Revolution has a few pens in purple.

Thank you so much for all the suggestions! There's a lot more out there than I expected. I guess I've been too timid to venture too far past big brands like Pelikan and Waterman yet... I love the Pelikan Aubergine and the purple VP special edition. I'll have to see if I can hunt down one on ebay, as I have no idea where else I could get one...

I do like the looks of that Rosetta pen too :)

There is a violet Platinum Plaisir, anodized aluminum, light in color and weight, and pretty cheap to boot.

+1 This was the first thing I thought of.

There's also Awai Murasaki-iro urushi if you want to go for a Nakaya:

I recently bought a purple Rosetta Napoleon. It is quite a small pen, but having said that with the cap posted I find it very comfortable and a smooth writer.

Very good value for the money.

My purple pens.

Waterman Concorde (set)

Montblanc 422 Caressa

Pelikan Pelikano (2003)

Pelikan P455?

Pelikan Happy pen

Happy pen looks rather pinkish. So I have four purple pens.

I'm so sorry they are all out of production.

These pens are all from eBay sellers.

If you consider buying a new pen, Pilot VP or Platinum Plaisir will be my recommendation.

Urushi finished fountain pens are gorgeous but a bit expensive.

The Purple Visconti Rembrandt is very nice, as is the blue one and the orange one *sigh*

My favorites are the already mentioned Rosetta Napoleon, also the Sailor Sapporo, and my newly acquired Levenger Purple Majesty.

I know I spent quite a bit of time hunting for my "perfect" purple pen. I resolved that with a Sailor Sapporo, which is truly magnificent. Bit of a shame that the purple lamé Sapporo appears to be beyond the end of its production run.
