Noodler's Ink: Squeteague

My first review! :clap1:

The Squeteague on overall is a versatile and unique ink. It is a sort of deep, blue-green-black that is almost-but-not-quite black when you write it with a fine nib. I can only describe it as the colour of a stormy night at sea. It is not your stereotypical ink and although it's modest, it gives off a subtle and unique vibe which I think is fantastic. I've tweaked the scan with photoshop to make the look as close as possible on my monitor to the real thing.

The title and the ink name was written with a Noodler's Konrad which I've yet to calibrate properly as you could probably tell. I've been meaning to do a review on that as well, but I'm holding it off until I like how it writes. The rest was written with a Parker 75.

Thanks, and any questions/suggestions are welcome! :P

One of my favorite colors - very nice! :thumbup:

Currently using:Too many pens inked to list, I must cut back! :) I can guarantee there are flighters, urushi, and/or Sheaffer Vac-fillers in the mix!!!

One of my favorite greens, not as dark as the sample above when a dryer pen is used.

So this is FPN User "Squeteague" reviewing Noodler's "Squeteague" ink? Sounds a little "Fishy" to me :) [bTW, Welcome to the FPN!]

* My two cents...

I think Noodler's Squeteague is more a dark teal than green. Your scan is probably the closest I've seen so far in the FPN review section. The other two scans that exist (as of my post-date) are waaay off IMO.

If this ink shaded better it would be a nice choice for broads, stubs and flex nibs. But it doesn't, at least my samples don't.

* Adding a touch of context...

Nathan remained true to his New England nautical theme when naming this ink.

Link below provides one definition of Squeteague. Follow the link and you can hear a pronounciation of the word.

Thanks for the warm welcome :P

I'll second that the colour is dark teal - the name escaped my mind. I think this illustration of a Squeteague depicts the colour quite well, albeit being a hint too blue.

I did try to make the colour as close as possible to how it looks in real life using the magic of photoshop. I wasn't sure how it would look on other people's monitors so I'm glad it's accurate on yours too. B)

I like inks with subtle hues and this looks like one for me to try. Thank you for the review.
