Carbon Fiber Collection

I don't know if I am alone here, but I have a real affinity for pens made of carbon fiber. I am a Ceramic Engineer (aka Materials Scientist) by training, so I have some experience with carbon fiber and carbide ceramics. Here's a shot of my collection ... in a carbon fiber case no less.

Here's what you are looking at.

1. Tumi (yes the luggage company) BP/RB

2. Visconti Carbon Dream

3-4. MB Meisterstuck FP and BP

5-6. MB 100th Anniversary Starwalker FP and BP (not carbon fiber but ceramic)

7. Stipula Retractable

8-9. Delta MOMO Desin FP and BP

10. DuPont Defi FP

11. Dunhill Sentryman FP

12. Dunhill AD2000 BP

One avenue in my collection ...

Wow, that's a nice collection! I particularly like the look of your Dupont :puddle:

It's quite nice out here in the sunshine...

Thanks all. The carbon fiber display case really pulls things together nicely.

thesunshine --the Defi is a great writer with an integral steel nib. It's pretty $$ for a steel nib. My other beef with it is the cap doesn't post well..

Sorry that the pictures are so lousy.

Very nice collection. Do you have a favorite?

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Well, that's a little like picking a favorite child, but I am probably a little partial to the Stipula and the Delta MOMO. They both have Titanium nibs, which I actually enjoy for their flex.

This is only one theme in a pretty large collection, but I really enjoy the innovative use of materials.

I have not yet tried a titanium nib. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and we are just a stone's throw from Henderson where Titanium Metals has a plant. I have known several of their scientists and find titanium to be a very useful metal. I have considered collecting TI pens, but they are usually quite expensive. Maybe I'll try a Ti nib. Thanks for the info.

Stipula uses a lot of Ti nibs and puts some in fairly inexpensive pens. I actually had a couple of Omas Ti pens -- the Arte Italiana and a Ti 360 (that was an LE of 120). I enjoyed them, but I ultimately sold them, as I have with most of my Omas pens -- they don't handle airline travel well.

Very nice! I love your MOMO, I haven't seen that model. I looked all over groan AD2000 FP, but only was able to find a BP. I also agree with your assessment of the writing pleasure of the Da Vinci. It is like butter. I am becoming a big fan of titanium nibs.

very nice collection  the only carbon fiber pen I own is the ad 2000. Now if Omas makes a Paragon in Carbon or Stipula makes an Eritruria in carbon, I will buy them asap

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Here is my collection and a short description of each (from left to right):

1) Marlen Ghiaccio - Carbon fiber cap and sterling silver barrel with nice cube pattern and 18kt gold M nib

2) Monteverde Invincia - Chrome trim with steel M nib, tied with the Mont Blanc for perfectly crafted CF weave pattern

3) Jorg Hysek - Long CF barrel with 18kt gold F nib, a bit of an odd duck as there is no clip or section to grip

4) Delta Extrema - Solid titanium trim with 18kt gold F nib, one of the lightest regular size FPs ever made

5) Caran d'Ache Hexagonal - Rhodium trim with 18kt gold F (reground to a rough XF) nib, very precisely manufactured as edges are razor sharp

6) Duke Carbon Fiber - Chrome trim with M steel nib, carbon fiber is in a cube pattern

7) Mont Blanc Carbon Steel - Steel barrel and platinum trim with 18kt gold XF nib, very well balanced

8) Alfred Dunhill AD2000 - Palladium trim with 18kt gold F nib, my favorite in terms of reliability, smoothness, balance, and overall look.

It's a huge, huge pen. Buttery soft nib with surprising flex.

Each time I open a thread like this it's like starting a new research project! Many cool and interesting pens in here. I have a Monteverde Invincia Stealth that would love some company. My wallet just left the room in tears.

How is it that all these pens from different makers are the same colour?Particularly the shades of blue and black. Is carbon fibre limited in colour?
