Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku

I'm back, kind of…

The reason I haven't posted any new ink reviews in a while is because my computer went *poof* right after New Years. It took me a while to get the new hard drive housing and all that, but I finally have all the info out of the 'sploded one. I'm currently getting my other computer up to speed (and have been in the process of buying a house), so it'll still be a while until I can post new reviews (but rest peacefully knowing that I have a huge stack already written out and waiting to be scanned), so if you've sent me inks to review just know that they're still coming!

But I did have one review scanned right before the computer died, and I recovered it tonight. So here it is!

Disclaimer about the color though—it might not be accurate. It looks different on my wife's (not calibrated) laptop monitor, so I don't know what you'll be seeing.

Iroshizuku Ku-jaku is a fantastic ink that has some issues on copy paper, but is awesome on Rhodia.

When I first sampled this ink, I thought "meh, nothing peeking my interest." But by the time I had finished the sample, I decided to try it out again. By the end of the second round, something intangibly enticing about the color, the flow, the behavior, changed my mind. Still can't quite describe why I like it but I do. So far, nothing really duplicates the overall performance and color of Ku-Jaku.

Love your reviews and am so glad your you're back to post more! Thanks!

Awesome review; goes without saying.

This is one of my favorite inks. It does have a lot of subtle properties that become evident as you use it.

That's terrible about your hard drive... I'm really glad you were able to get all your dataz back!

Glad to have you back. I always enjoy your reviews!

On my monitor this looks quite a bit greener than the sample on the Goulet swab shop. Is that correct or my monitor? I love what I am seeing in your review, however what is on the Goulet Swab shop is not something I personally like.

I tried to get the white balance as correct as I could.

The photo looks much closer to the Goulet swab...

Now I just need to find an ink that looks like the original scan...that is stunning!

Oh, I was exciting about the stunning green and then hmm...why did it dilute to blue. embarrassed_smile.gif Thank you for the review!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The photo posted on 8/27 looks closer to what I see on the page. I keep a pen inked with this ink - teal is my favorite color, and this teal is stunning and so well-behaved. I get decent shading with an Ahab, and it has a very noticeable red sheen with a bold or flex nib that, with the teal color of the ink, looks purple. If you look at the photo, the S in Shading shows some of the sheen where the bottom curls up.

Wonderful to have you back and thank you for presenting this favorite of mine. It is ironic that I just inked a Graf with it, just moments ago :)

Here's a picture comparing Ku-jaku and Syo-ro. :)
