To have such a keepsake memory of one's grandfather, but to then give it to a friend because you know that he loves pens and would very much appreciate it--priceless.

What makes this even more remarkable is he is a fountain pen user. He would say that his most treasured pen is the Parker 51 set that he was given as a young man. He wrote with it all through college and a career in the U.S. Air Force, and uses it to this day.

Until then, the previous owners of my vintage fountain pens will always remain a mystery to me.

Mine too, except for this one Sheaffer. I often think about the history of my pens. I have Parkers from before the Depression. I wonder who owned them and what circumstances of life these pens have experienced with their respective owners.

My current most expensive/most valuable pens are:

- modern Parker Duofold

- Parker "51" Flighter

I just recieved the Flighter in the mail today, so I haven't even had an opportunity to use it yet. And as for the Duofold...I must admit that I don't use it much. It almost feels a bit too "grand" for everyday writing tasks.

My most used FP by far is still my black Parker Sonnet with an italic nib. More than any other pen, it just feels as if it's a part of my hand when I'm using it. :)

Geez...

My most expensive pen has got to be an Elephant covered Chilton Boston set, mint with price tag, can't find any signs of use, but who knows...

I would rather not say what I paid for the set, but it was quite pricy... B)

As far as my favorite pens....

got to be that OS Boston with the green bands...

and the lever fill Chilton "Chi Lever" in quartz... with white gold trim, and white gold nib...

just two great pens... oh yeah, the Chi Lever has a matching pencil too!

  • 2 weeks later...

I recently sold many of my most expensive pens - a black Pelikan 100N, a nice DJ "51", two M800s, and an Optima. That leaves the Edson as my most expensive pen, and it is one that I will never sell.

The most expensive pen I purchased was my Mont Blanc Le Grand. The one that is worth the most is my Wahl-Eversharp Stenographer's Pen which I paid $5 for. I talked to Syd (wahlnut) and he said that it is worth about $250-$375, so its my most valuable. The one that is dearest to me is the newest to my collection: a Sheaffer Imperial IV in black with a fine nib. It is special because a friend gave it to me.

My favorite and most precious pen is my 1979 Meisterstück 149, followed by a 1965 Meisterstück 146, a 1995 pelikan söveran m800,a 2002 parker duofold centennial and a 1960 parker junior.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I love this post. It is the closest thing to bare-faced "fountain pen pornography" I've seen,

Sorry for the hurried pic and poor lighting, but here is my contribution. :D

Please keep 'em coming everyone!

My most expensive pen is a Namiki Maki-e pen hummingbird model.

A gift from my wife.

My wife loves shopping. I admit I do benefit from her hobby from time to time.
