Here's a quick shot I took of a pre-release Pink Safari:

(I did ask if I could keep it but the answer was a resounding "no".)

I love collecting the Lamy Safaris! They are relatively cheap and they are USEFUL! I just got the new PINK one and I'm in LOVE!

I hope Lamy continues to issue new colors at least one per year!

I only started collecting them over a year or two ago, so I missing the very early ones:

- savannah green

- terracotta

- white with black clip

- swedish LE (blue with yellow clip?)

Sigh. if I could only get one out of these four, I reeeeeeeeally want the savannah green the most... Its all a dream though...

There was talk on here a while back of organizing a FPN special edition Lamy Safari. I'm kinda surprised it never went through as someone said you only needed to order 200 for a production run ... too bad.

I started to collect the available information on lamy safari/al-star/joy pens on a (german) site.

if you have any additional information or corrections, please let me know!

best regards,

viola

A local franchise of a national pen store chain told me in a phone call that they have an Electric Blue Al-Star. Ever heard of this color?

That's what I thought. I have seen the Ocean Blue and said to the store clerk that's what I thought she had and she said no, but that the Electric Blue was a different color than that of the Ocean Blue. However, the description she gave sounds so much like the Ocean Blue, I think she's mistaken.

She said the 'Electric Blue' came out the same time as the Raspberry.

Skip,

Where can one view the photo of your Lamy Safari/Al-Star collection?

I was at Bromfield Pen Shop in Boston in late July (the last week) and picked up two of the Special Edition Pinks. I had also heard that they wouldn't be out until September, but apparently, some retailers already have them.

Well for you, if you wrestle on, for in persistency lies victory, and with the morning may come the wished-for blessing. But not always; there is a struggle with defeat which some of you will have to bear, and it will be well for you if you have cultivated a cheerful equanimity. Remember, too, that sometimes 'from our desolation only does the better life begin.' Even with disaster ahead, it is better to face them with a smile, and with the head erect, than to crouch at their approach. And, if the fight is for principle and justice, even when failure seems certain, where many have failed before, cling to your ideal, and, like Childe Roland before the dark tower, set the slug-horn to your lips, blow the challenge, and calmly await the conflict.

No, the pink has been out at least for a month or more. I have the pink and I have been writing with it for at least one month.

Still waiting on my reground nib to my lime green to return from Pendemonium. A voice on the other end said in a couple of days. In the meantime, I just got a charcoal, I don't know whether I like or not, it came with a 1.5 nib and I am still deciding whether I will keep the nib it came with as another nib choice or replace it with a tried and true Extra fine point. Only my Transparent has a fine nib. So far, I think I am finished for the time being, I have the limited edition pink, lime green limited edition, raspberry Aluminum, transparent Vista and what has become my second all time favorite of the week along side of my Dollar transparent with burgundy trim is the limited edition light blue with red clip. It is by far becoming my most favorite of all. I guess you could say in less than no time at all (only since the Pen Show here in NC a couple of months ago, raspberry the only one purchased) (Thanks CarolinaWriter) I have become Lamy Crazy.

Obviously, making up for loss time or is it discontinued Lamys? WHATEVER!

I had several Lamy Safari FPs and Al-Stars that I sold and now I regret it because I'm starting over and, just like you, catching up on the discontinued Safaris.

My current favorite is the Ocean Blue Al-Star using a 1.5mm, but waiting on a pre-ground nib from Pendemonium. I'm lovin' the Lamys!
