I am more than a slight bit envious of such a tasteful collection of pens. The Italians in particular strike me as being absolutely beautiful. By the way, how is that Nettuno? I've been considering getting one, but I can't seem to find much on the post-aurora purchase version of the tridente.

FYI, a micro dot of Poster-tack under each pen will keep them orientated like you want and not rolling around while you shoot. Also won't leave residue like tape will. Much easier than tape to hide too.

You might also try and shoot with just the nonp-direct light coming in a non-sun facing window instead of with flash or inside lighting.

I have no experience with the Nettuno pre-aurora, so I can only give you my opinion on the post-aurora. First, I do like the pen. It feels more like an Omas than it does an Aurora Alpha. The feel of the pen without the cap posted is very nice. The metal end is shaped perfectly to have a nice feel in your hand. A good part of the weight is in the cap, so it loses the balance a little. I like the construction better than the Visconti or Alpha, but the Omas still feels like a better product.

The one thing that I hate about the Nettuno is the pocket clip. It is cheap and poorly designed. I think my cheap Zebra 301 has a more solid clip. The oversized cap really makes the cheap quality clip an issue. If I put the pen in a case, the clip bends. It really makes an otherwise solid product feel cheap.

The nib is medium and I really have not had a chance to really use it as much as I would like ( the clip issue forces me to baby it, so it is not readily in my daily rotation ). I started it with American Blue by Private Reserve, which ran very wet. It will probably be another week until I run through the current fill and try Visconti Ink it, which I like better than the Private reserve.

I bought this at a really good price . I think it was 250 or so with shipping for the Trident.

I hope this helps.. I am not a pen expert, so just my opinion.

Thanks Bruce. I just found my digital camera and I used a drafting table lamp with both fluorescent and incandescent light. (which was not smart since my drafting table is right inside a sliding glass door.) So I will play with the time of day and will get great natural light. I should have shot them in the pen case as well.

The Italians are excellent Ernest Hemingway used a Montegrappa, and I have actually held his pen. I had to read "A Farewell to Arms" after that experience, and he used the particular pen to write it. I love my Italian jobs.

Interesting about hemmingway..

For me the Duponts are perfection. I don't even compare other pens to the Duponts. Dupont's just feel right, any of them. I just got the Elysee and wow.

I love Montegrappa'a. The parola is a great everyday pen, and it is not expensive. But the Omas Bologna's I just got and I really love them. Real solid construction, great balance, and they are smooth.

I do love my S T Dupont, I chose a silver model as my 50th birthday present to myself. It is superb, and has elan.I concur with your comment. As for Omas, I sent my Omas Ogival Arte Italiana back to Italy and it has come back as new. The nib on the Omas is probably the best of all the nibs I have in my pens, it writes like oil on glass.
