Fountain Pen / Dip Pen Hybrids

I use quite a few fountain pen bodies as dip pens holders. Sometimes you find a great fountain pen missing its nib or its cap or perhaps you can't get the pen apart to fix it. :headsmack: This is one way to use for those fountain pens. (Occasionally, if the fit is good enough, I use the feed of the fountain pen to hold more ink for my dip nib.) Here are some of my prettiest Fountain Pen/Dip Pen Hybrids.

Great use! I've done that with quill nibs, but never metal dip nibs. Something very cool and taking a cap off and seeing that hand-shaped feather nib.

How does writing with a quill compare to writing with a steel nib?

Well, the quills I've made were never tempered so I don't think I've gotten the proper quill experience; it was more "something to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon" than any pursuit of fine writing. And I've never written with steel dip nib, so I really have nothing to compare it to. I really want to get more into dip pens. The holders and nibs are pretty reasonably prices for how high of quality they can be.

Those are really nice looking re-purposed dip pens, Jill! Thank you for showing them to us.

Those nice turn-of-the-century pens are often missing the cap or nib so why not use them for something.
