Mont Blanc 144 Identification

I picked up a used MB "144" and hope I did ok with the purchase. I've done some due diligence, but still wonder if it was $125 well spend, as I can't see the inscription that is supposed to be underneath the clip .. I actually can't see anything at all underneath ..

The pen writes well, it has a MB marked nib that seems medium,

so what are the foolproof ways to tell? Guess I could get in the car & drive, but thought it might be worth asking here ..

Thanks

If it's an 80s pen, it might have West Germany on the clip, and nothing under the clip. No serial # in that case.

$125 is a decent price for a decent 144. The 90s 144s might have Germany on the clip, a serial # on the side of the clip.

Around the cap band should be the word "MEISTERSTUCK".

The letter "U" is not full height. On careful examination,

the "U" is shortened, with two "dots" above it. This is

the german punctuation "umlat".

The guys at the Montblanc Forum were great help identifying

mine.

Ok, all I see on the band holding the clip is (starting at the clip & moving around as if reading normally left towards the right) is a serial #"BGxxxxxx7", then "GERMANY". The Meisterstruck around the cap band has two squarish upward extensions of the "legs" of the U letter to bring them even, so that's correct?

Thanks
