Help Identifying Waterman Paris Pen

Boxeo

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum.

I have a question about my dad's waterman paris fountain pen.

Does anyone know what it is called and how much it would be worth?

It's over 8 years old and has been just sitting there.

I've attached pictures to this post.

Thank you all for your help!

By the way, look for some 14K stampings on the body and cap. Maybe, just maybe, that is a Tiffany Grid "75".

Thanks guys your quick help was greatly appreciated.

That's interesting that it isn't a waterman. I guess I thought it was because I found it in a waterman box lol.

I didn't find any 14k but i found a "20" with something beside it that is either a "k" or a "u". I'm not sure what this represents.

Do you guys know if it has any value? even if it is like $40?

Thank you again!

Okay, looks like it is the 20 micron gold plate version; too bad but still a really nice set. The pen is probably worth $50.00 to 75.00 depending on the nib and overall condition.

That is a lovely Parker 75. The 20u (I do not have a Greek micron symbol) means the gold plate is 20 microns thick. It is their way of telling you that it is not just any old gold wash.

The value will depend alot on whether it is gold plate, gold fill, vermeil (gold plated sterling silver), or solid gold.

Is there a way to find out which of these the pen is?

Thank you.

Yes, take a look at this page http://www.vintagepens.com/catill_Parker_75_Classic.shtml and compare your pen with the third one down.

Now that just plain surprises me, but David certainly has a better idea of current market than I do. Sure makes me feel a lot better about some of my pens though.

You have to remember that 20 micron is like four times thicker than the current heavy gold plate. I do not like these pens, they are not to my taste, either stylistically or functionally, but I hope there are enough people out there who will like them and save them for posterity. Also you do have to remember that David's pens are beautifully cleaned, restored and in full working condition.
