Fake Or Real Parker Sonnet ?

Hi everyone,

I just bought a Parker Sonnet Black Laque GT - I bought it from online shop. I am worried about it, because there is no stamp on the warranty and the most important thing is that the ballpoing knock a little bit. Somewhere in the twist mechanism I think. See the pictures and tell me please if this is an original or fake... I don't know the barcode - is it France? On the pen is written: ParkeR SONNET FRANCE Q What is this Q... Is the same signature on the original Parker? Please notice and the 6th picture - the mechanism - the "silver thing" is too close to the shell I think. The pictures:

seems ok to me.

sonnets are faked very often (unfortunately).

i you bought it from a representable seller online you should not be worried.

if there is a problem with it you better contact the seller, he will refund or replace it.

good luck.

From papers and box it looks Original. Dont worry about stamp on the papers. I have never had that stamped by any of my Parker dealer. It is very important for Montblanc pen for the service but for Parker you dont need to worry about the stamp. Parker service center will need just the purchase receipt or paypal receipt thats all they need.

About the authenticity of the pen I dont see it as a fake Sonnet. I have to look for the inner section of my pen to see if yours is the same because I never paid attention to that mechanism. If I look at the box and pen as whole and paper work it looks original though. Dont worry too much, enjoy the pen. I will check my pen in the evening as I got Duofold ball pen in my pocket today and left Sonnet at home and I will let you know if mine has same from inside the twist mechanism.

IMHO it may NOT be genuine.

Why I say that is the marking on the pen as mentioned by Svetozar "ParkeR SONNET FRANCE Q". Notice the last "R" of the Parker. An original will ot have this typo error.

Regards

Hello again,

yes it's written "ParkeR" "sonnet" and "france" are the same size letters as "arker". Its the same way as on the box - look better that are the same letters of ParkeR. That is the model: Parker Sonnet 2008 Collection Laque Deep Black GT Now I view the difference and it's very strange, because of the official site are 2 different models, please look: http://www.parkerpen.com/#/en/collection/Sonnet/Deep-Black-Lacquer/Gold-Trims/Quinkflow-Ballpoint and: http://www.parkerpen.com/en/discovery/product/sonnet Mine is as the first one. Please notice that the second is only big letters and the sign of Parker is a little bit twisted... So, my pen is the same as the first one, I just think that the letters on the picture are little bit deeper as on my pen, but maybe the light is another, can't tell that. Is my pen original?

If it's any help, I have a red Vector with a date code of "IQ" and the Parker word is printed around the cap in the same style as yours, i.e.

taller "P" and "R". I bought this pen in W.H.Smith on 20/4/11, so it's genuine Parker as far as I am aware. Around the opposite side of the cap is the word "FRANCE". Finally the arrow head points to the "P" rather than being centered on the word. The clip cannot move around on a Vector cap, it's in a fixed position. I will try to add a photo when it's daylight.

I agree with Mann's comment. Don't worry to much about the missing stamp. I have bought so many pens that didn't have stamps on the instruction/warranty sheet (I agree it's annoying).

As long as you have a receipt you should have a strong case if you find out later it's a fake. I have seen fake Sonnets and the thing that goes first seems to be the gold plating. I have a genuine Sonnet ballpoint and there is no loss of plating even though I use it regularly and it is 15 years old - if the plating goes within the next 12 months, that will give you a good idea it's a fake.

Hopefully yours is genuine and you will enjoy it over the coming years.
