Thanks Hari. I was waiting for you to chime in........

It was hand made by a friend of mine who is an expert in acrylics. He makes special stands and a myriad of other items for museums, high tech displays etc.etc. and was more than pleased to take this small project under his wing. He measured the pen with a micrometer and then made the design himself. The stand took a couple of days to make, and as you can see, its just fine.

The results are outstanding Adam, maybe you should get a nice classy display tray for your Mbs too, to go with the Nakaya. They might be feeling neglected, haha.

Best

Hari

Very nice. Wonder if your friend could make more and market them?

Adam,

What a perfect stand for a truly gorgeous pen! I agree that your Nakaya deserves nothing less than a custom, handmade and very classy stand. Kudos to your friend! Given your descriptions of the Nirvana writing experience, I reckon she won't spend much time in the stand, especially if someone suggests an ink you like as well as your current one. :D

Enjoy both in good health and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

All the Best,

Gem

Dear Friends !Thank you all for your kind words !I will try to answer you all as follows :

Teeitup418holes : yes, I agree you truly need one of these stands.

Haribhai : I too agree that my MBs won't be seeing too much action in the near future. I took each one out of my pen box on the weekend and gave each one some famous Adam TLC and polish. They are now having a well deserved rest, and with the greatest of respect to them, I think it will be a while until I put the Nakaya aside.I did play around with asking my friend to make an acrylic box for my MBs too. I was thinking about a nice black box, and asking him to use his computerized laser cutter to cut out an MB star in the top and fill it with white acrylic material. This would also be a pushover for this talented gent, but I feared getting sued by MB for copyright of the star as it would really be 1:1 with the original.....Haribhai, you know I could never neglect any of my MBs, but this Nakaya has surpassed my expectations. She is just a sheer pleasure to hold and use.......

Perry : I could ask my friend if he would be interested in marketing the stands as he has all the necessary means at his factory to easily mass produce them. The design as you see is tasteful yet simple, and enhances the pure beauty of the Nakaya. I am sure he could make these for 149s too and I fear to let this master let his imagination go wild.If this is of true interest to you, I could talk to my friend and see whether we could do something here....... And for the first step, when you say "more", how many more are you talking about ?

Gem : thank you so much for your kind words and wishes for my recovery. It's a wonder what a Nakaya can do to make you feel better. I actually didn't open the box until I returned home after my first serious op, as I wasn't sure that I would be coming home at all.........I have never had such a bonding experience with any of my MBs even though I love using each and every one of them. Some remind me of my good friend Hari who I will miss seeing this year in Mumbai due to my health, as the couple of hours of "normality" that we spend together drooling over fountain pens at my hotel in Mumbai has become something that I look forward to considerably when traveling to India on biz. Hari is a perfect gentleman and a infinite source of wisdom when it comes to MBs and fountain pens in general. The Nakaya is gorgeous without a doubt. The Parker Penman Ruby ink is the perfect ink for this pen complimenting the ruby undertones in the pen colour, and rich enough to use for daily biz correspondence formal and informal as one. I actually asked my friend to make a stand for me just to make sure that the pen doesn't roll off my table but didn't realize how beautiful the stand would turn out and what the two would look like together.Best wishes to you allBless you Hari

Adam

Great stand Adam--maybe you can convince your friend to do a double or triple for your subsequent purchases...

Double or Triple ??

possibly double, as I am seriously thinking about a Nakaya Ascending Dragon.......... but my wife and my bank manager aren't.

However, it doesnt hurt to dream, and most of my pen dreams have come true sooner or later.........

Nice stand.

I've found a pen stand on my work area to be a really useful bit of kit. Here's mine...

The space is often cluttered with other objects, so this haven for the pen protects it in those odd moments when I need to put it down for just a moment.
