New White Meisterstuck Mont Blanc

Was having dinner with friends at Prime in Lenox Square in Atlanta tonight, when the MB Boutique (in the same mall) emailed me:

Hommage To A Symbolic Mountain…

Meisterstück Tribute to the Mont Blanc

For the first time since its introduction in 1924, the legendary Meisterstück will hail the distinct, white color representing the eternal ice and snowy peak of the Mont Blanc Mountain itself.

· Lacquered in White

· Metal forepart and fittings platinum-plated and engraved with Mont Blanc massif

· Montblanc emblem made of natural snow quartz

· With the sale of the “Tribute to the Mont Blanc”, Montblanc supports projects and organizations that work for the maintenance and protection of the Mont Blanc range.

· RB - $975, BP - $900 and FP - $1,095

Well of course after the double cappuccinos did their work, I had to see this "Natural Snow Quartz" topped Meisterstuck myself. And we were off.

This is NOT the Meissen Porcelain pen, which has been discussed and drooled over previously. This is a new white lacquered pen.

The pen only comes (for now) in Classique and Mozart size - no LeGrand size, and of course no 149.

The Classique is white with platinum plated trim; the Mozart is white with rose gold plated trim.

The Natural Snow Quartz MB star topping the pen is really sharp - it has a translucence and glow that the white resin star cannot approach. Not as much fire and visual interest as mother of pearl - but a huge improvement over resin.

Also interestingly, Montblanc etched a labeled profile of the mountain range on the tip cone of the ballpoint. The Boutique did not have a fountain pen yet, but I expect this engraving will be repeated somewhere on the fountain pen too - likely on the platinum plated section.

If a 146 size fountain pen emerges in this line, it will likely be my summer white dinner jacket pen.

Gorgeous. Any idea when it will become available?

The Classique and the Mozart were in stock in Atlanta's Montblanc Boutique this evening. They do not know whether a LeGrand size model will be available.

But you mentioned the boutique did not have the fountain pen yet? Hence my query. Now to wait for it to hit UK shores. Thank you for the heads up anyway.

Ahh, sorry. The Atlanta MB Boutique did not receive a fountain pen in their first shipment - just the platinum plated white Classique and rose gold plated white Mozart sized ballpoints, but they told me they could order a 145 sized or Mozart sized fountain pen - just no 146 and no 149.

Thank you Ray. It's a gorgeous pen and a worthy cause. I had he fortune of completing the Tour du Montblanc, a trek around the Montblanc massif. It is indeed a magnificent place.

Btw, here's a link to the porcelain pen for comparison:

Some say "so good they named it twice". I say they simply found a way to BRAND themselves again under the guise of tribute. Thanks

Hey Blade - You should consider one of the 100th Anniversary granite pens, hewn from the Mont Blanc massif to commemorate your trek. And of course, we want photos.

Annoyingly, the Montblanc website continues to claim the Meissen Porcelain pens have a mother of pearl star. They don't. They have a normal white resin star. Several folks have emailed MB about the error, but it seems it persists. If the Meissen pens had a mother of pearl star, a 146 Meissen would be resting in my small stable.

The new Tribute to the Mont Blanc collection should be already available in Montblanc boutiques. A friend of mine bought a Mozart Tribute in Madrid a few days ago.

The collection includes:

Classique Tribute Fountain Pen (white gold) 840€

Classique Tribute Ball point (white gold) 690€

Classique Tribute Roller Ball (white gold) 750€

Mozart Tribute Fountain Pen (rose gold) 750€

Mozart Tribute Ball point (rose gold) 590€

The pens have a lacquered white finish with a snow crystal top, and the grip section engraved with the panorama of the Montblanc Massif, with each peak named. The collection comes in a white case with the brand name and logo.

Montblanc released also a Leather Goods collection with organizer, purse, wallet and pen case, crafted with imprinted white leather.

Oh my they look amazing!

But too bad no 146 as of yet or else I would be going to MB tomorrow to pick it up.

Nothing on the website either, I want to see the leather collection along with it and see if anything is worth picking up

Anyone know where I can find more info?

So do people prefer the look of the Classique or the Mozart?

While I'm a big fan of the rose gold trimmed 75th Anniversary 149, I actually prefer the platinum trimmed version of this pen.

White is a "cool" color, and so is platinum.

Rose gold is a much warmer color, and seems to contrast with the white pen.

I do wish MB had used a white or platinum macaroon and then used a black mother of pearl star, but that's an argument for another day.

My prediction/ hopes finally panned out. I hope this will remain a trend in the future. It sure makes the bp; rb & mp line more appealing. I hope they release a 161 in Rosé.

Very different...I like it...actually I like it more than the recently released C. Collodi WE. I agree with yachtsilverswan that the platinum version works better than the rose gold, but to each his/her own.

I wonder what lacquering process MB is using for these pens? Is it like the Urushi lacquer used for high-end lacquered Japanese pens like the Dani?

As far as I remember when I had the pens on my hands they are not lacquered. It is white resin. And do I like them? No, they look too feminine to me. And this might be the reason why Montblanc doesn't offer the "Mont Blanc Montblanc" in the LeGrand size.

I find this model interesting and attractive. But, it does not yet come in a size I can use, I do not really care for white pens, and I cannot stand metal sections. :( :glare: I do not think I will be getting one.

Interesting... will have to see how it looks in person. And am I right in saying they've created another new "star"? From celluloid (vintage), resin, mother of pearl (LE/POA), diamond and now quartz?

I wonder what type of lacquer they use, as there is a difference in production and value between a natural, hand extracted and applied lacquer (e.g. ST Dupont, Urushi pens) and synthetic. I'm not sure I like the etching and how permanent it is and feel that distracts from the pen's elegance.

Am also disappointed in the lack of a MB 146 size which means I won't purchase this pen.

Time will tell what happens!

In Rotation: MB 146 (EF), Noodler's Ahab bumblebee, Edison Pearl (F), Sailor ProGear (N-MF)

In storage: MB 149 (18k EF), TWSBI 540 (B), ST Dupont Olympio XL (EF), MB Dumas (B stub), Waterman Preface (ST), Edison Pearl (0.5mm CI), Noodler's Ahab clear, Pilot VP (M), Danitrio Densho (F), Aurora Optima (F), Lamy 2000 (F), Visconti Homo Sapiens (stub)
