Montblanc 252 Nib Removal

hilsedwards

Recommended Posts

Help please Montblanc experts.

I have a delicious Montblanc 252 but the nib is a tad too fine for my writing pleasure. 'Him indoors' has managed to source an OM replacement.

Advice is now required to how to remove the nib and feed from the section. Does the section screw off from the barrel as in my 72 or is a special tool required to extract the nib etc??

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks.

Just finished the dedicated Montblanc 252 nib removal tool for hilsedwards.

The attached Photobucket links show the design.

Note the 254 needs a different larger tool

This is a most effective and ingenious little tool; of course it works perfectly.

Many thanks Francis.

Saw this thread about removing the nib with a special tool.

Can someone explain me how this tool works? I don't get it.

Regards,

The nib and feed are held together by a sleeve called the "feeder case". This sleeve has two slots. The tabs on the extractor tool engage the slots and the nib is unscrewed out. Gentle Heat is advised. I would wait for further inputs from Francis himself.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

Can I just make sure I have this right?

Francis actually made this tool to remove the nib? :yikes:

That's awesome. Francis I salute you. :notworthy1:
