Waterman Nib Replacement?

Recommended Posts

New to you here, my second post. Not new to pens, having turned wooden kits until disgusted with the poor quality of about all pieces except the nibs.

My question is that I have a Waterman black fountain pen with gold rings and clip. I've had it since 1992 and I've about worn a flat place on the nib. Most of the time now I use it upside down to get the thin line I want. I need a new nib. Are they available? The one I have is gold with "Waterman" written on it and the letter "F" for fine line. I bought it in 1992 for $45.00 and it has given excellent service for 18 years. I would like to keep it in service.

If you do not know the correct name for your pen, you have to load a photo..for clues and help,

regards,

Rene.

I hope this works. Should be two pics of the Waterman in question.

Another post in the Waterman section suggests a Laureat - except the upper end of mine does not come off. What nib would fit? How hard is it to take it apart and replace a nib?

I have been offered a "Waterman nib" that came from a repairman (new condition implied, not specified) for $25 - is this a reasonable price?

I should add to this that the only experience I have had dissecting fountain pens comes from the kits I've made from Woodcraft or PennState Industries and turned wooden barrels for the pens. Those I've had all apart but it's a simple screw disassembly.
