Hello friends,

I found a Parket set this morning on a french flea market and i have not found what model it is, if you can help me merci beaucoup :- )

I guess that it is a Parker Duofold, aerometric from the 50's but do no not know the model, here are the elements:

Length closed: 11.5 cm

inmprint: on the cap , double or laminé, and a awl ( as well as on the body )

nib: Parker nib 18K, and a awl.

Both pens got a black jewel on the top.

Thank you very much

Best regards

Jean Elie

It could be a parker slimfold ! The nib is very similar.

Ah--your link may work tomorrow as it begins a new month and, most likely, a new bandwidth allotment.

I came here for the pictures and stayed for the conversation.

I have one which is very similar but Parker Duofold Junior size.

The nib is marked 'Parker 18K France' with the cap marked Double Or Lamine and the gold marks you refer to on cap and barrel. My guess is that these are scarce French versions of the English Parker Duofold range. I wonder if there is a Duofold Senior sized version?

The other interesting point is that the threads and part of the barrel hidden by the cap are plastic.

After consulting your link, the "La Plume" is actually a good solution, the nib is very similar, really more than the slimfold.

C'est une très belle parure, en tout cas. ;)

I have one just like the original poster in a black barrel (not overlay) with the same cap. Its an aerometric filler and works quite well, other than being too small. Its the pen at the bottom of this image and to the left of the minim:

Below is an image of another French Parker...this time a vacumatic filler (speedline) in fairly sizable proportions. It is a full 1cm longer than a vac standard with a 'regular' sized nib.

Compare and contrast the following:

On the top a French gold plated 'Duofold'. On the bottom an English Duofold Junior.

Note identical lengths, similar shapes, identical clips [probably both sourced from Parker UK.].

Identical fillers. The filler instructions on the French pen are written in English and it is also stamped 'The Parker Pen Co. Ltd London, England'.

The nibs are a similar size and shape.

Feeds and nib sections seem identical. The screw threads are the same and the nib sections for the two pens can be interchanged.

The jewel on my French pen is an interesting shade of green and seems rather on the small size in comparison to the clip.

My own thoughts are that perhaps 'La Plume' was a generic term which Parker in France gave to a variety of pens produced in this era. However, the pen I have is essentially a gold plated Duofold Junior and the pen shown by Jean Elie in the original posting looks very much like a gold plated Parker Slimfold.

Gareth.
