Parker Sonnet France

That is my second Fountain Pen. Bought this pen after an auction in Ebay. Total cost was 56 USD.

This was a new old stock from a famous seller from Ebay.

First impressions: 5/10

Wasn´t what i expected. No box, no ink cartringes, only the Parker converter inside the package.

Material: 8/10

This shines a lot. The construction is in metal with black laquer. Is a please to see it. The cap is push/pull and details are all in rhodium.

Nib: 8,5/10

The nib is what made me bought this pen. It´s a beauty, two tones 18k gold marked Parker 750 Medium.

How it Writes: 8,5/10

The nib in the beggin give me a little trouble. It skiped a lot with the Private reserv Velvet black ink. With a little work and after I changed the ink to waterman black, the pen stoped the skipping and is writing very smooth. It writes as smooth as my Sailor 1911 medium nib.

The nib has a little flex in it.

Overal: 8/10

This was my second Gold nib pen. I read a lot of Fountain Pens here and decided to buy some to me ;P

Waiting now to my new Pelikan M805 arrive. :)

I like the Sonnet. The also great in that changing the nib is very simple, allowing you to make it into different pens with a simple twist. I have a M and and XF in mine, and a <sob> damaged F that I think I'll have reground into a stub one day.

Nice review. I too have a Sonnet with a steel nib and I think it one of the best pens.

Nice pics and that gold nib is beautiful. :puddle:

What is the France part about?

The Parker Sonnet is made in France. Ooops! Just saw that others have already mentioned this! Anyway, this particular Sonnet, with the large cap band, is a lovely early edition of this line which replaced the venerable Parker 75. Like the later P75, the Sonnet has a threaded nib & feed unit which makes thorough cleaning and/or changing nibs easy.

P.S. Please tell us which eBay seller has these pens for sale.

So is this an MK1 or MK2?

Looks like an MK2 or later version from the cap band.

Thanks for the review.

Anindya.

Nice review! I think the Sonnet is a really nice looking pen, great value for money. That nib looks very classy indeed.

Fountain pens aren't a collection, it's an insatiable obsession!

Nice review and great shot on the nib. I wonder how does it compare to the current version of Sonnet in the market now? Equally good?

I have this same pen that required a baby bottom fix. Mike It Work fixed it and now writes like a charm.

Check out this new flickr page for pen wraps
