Parker 180 Nib Disassemble

Hi everybody around here!

I'm a newbie to this forum from Germany and hope somebody can help me. I got a new Parker 180 from ebay, very mint condition. But I think, the ink does not float freely as it should. Ultrasonic bath helped a little, but I'd really like to know how to disassemble the nib to see if the are remainders of old ink. Can anybody help me with a photo maybe? I really don't know which way the nib is connected to the grip, if that's the right word. Do I have to unscrew the nib or is it just stuck? Do I have to move it outwards or inwards? I hope my english is good enough to make everything clear to you. Thanks for replies or links!

Your English is superb! I wish I could speak German as well :clap1:

The 180 nibs should just pull out, try gently twisting it each way first and if you can free it, ease it out.

From experience I've learnt that some will pull out easily and others are a VERY tight fit. I have 2 in my collection that I can't remove but they write perfectly so it's not a problem. So be careful not to use too much force, I grip the nib with a wad of kitchen paper which makes it easier, for me anyway, Good Luck!

I tried anew after long wait, soaking the section the whole day in my ultrasonic bath and finally got the nib out. Thanks once more for your hint! :roflmho:

Yesterday trying to remove the nib I smashed the metal piece that secures the nib.
Does anyone know where you can get this metallic piece?

The metal piece on top of the nib cannot be replaced separately. At least without major difficulty. The problem is that it is held onto the feed with a melted plastic post, and I think that post is part of the feed.

You have to replace the nib assembly, as shown in the pix from ceejaybee.

The nibs are still available, I think they run about $30 or $40USD. Last time I looked, I remember seeing a listing at a place in England.
