Trademark no. 16,108, John T. Underwood, "Ribbons For Type-Writing Machines", Dec 18, 1888, used since Mar 1, 1883, renewed 1918, is for a label with stars and intersecting lines. Alas, the mighty John Underwood Ink Co. survived into the 20th century by becoming a lowly type-writer manufacturer. It isn't writing, it's typing. ;~)
