When put this way the bottle could be emptied to the last drop of ink

Also take a look at:

1960's ink bottles

and

1970's ink bottles

Are ink cartridges of the same gold color also MontBlanc?

Yes, I think so.

I have seen golden colored MB cartridges. But I think only the cartidges which have been fitted to the new pen you buy are the golden ones; as far as I know they have not been available as refills.

I recently bought via FPN 30 misc. cartridges, no color choice, and 6 of them are opaque gold like the bottles you show. Nice timing on your posts and fun to see the bottles.

I think MB cartidges would be marked Montblanc on the plastic.

I still have some of black ink I bought in the 1970s (or perhaps 1980s, no later). They are opaque gold without Montblanc or any other marking on the plastic, only on the box. They came ten to a box. I also have some royal blue, bought about the same time, in transparent cartriges. Perhaps the opaque cartridges were used for black and transparent for colors. I have not bought any Montblanc cartridges for a couple of decades so I do not know whether they still package black in the gold-colored cartridges.

This is a great series! The pictures in the four parts should be consolidated and pinned to use as a ready reference.

This is interesting to know; many thanks.

Does anyone have any of these vintage bottles (with ink) for trade or sale? PM me if so!

I bought mine almost exclusively from ebay Germany or at EU Pen Shows.

I have one of those in turquoise. :) Haven't used it lately, but it was still fine the last time I did.
