Could you help ID this Eversharp pencil?

Hi All,

I bought this pencil at a garage sale yesterday morning. It's an Eversharp that I haven't seen before (not that I'm an expert or anything). It's blue, has an interesting arrow/feather-like pattern on the barrel, and has a silver colored star below the clip. See pics. I thought it maybe was a Star Reporter, but I haven't been able to find a pic of a Star Reporter pencil on the net; I've only seen pics of the pens, which look a bit different.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Dave

I've got no clue as to the designation or model but I like it.

Nice find.

Does this help:

Star Reporter Pen ad 1953:

There were a lot of variations to the star reporter. I would guess yours is a little later than the pen ad here, due to the chasing and the clip chevron design

Thanks for posting this ad!

But the ad doesn't mention a pencil at all. I haven't been able to find anything indicating that they made a Star Reporter pencil. Did they?

Sorry, but I don't have access to an exact reference at the moment -- but I can tell you your pencil is a 1940s model, possibly even c. 1939 (I don't recall the exact dates). It's very different from the pencils of the Star Reporter era -- the chased barrel is colored (either anodized or hard lacquered) metal, not plastic. Not all that common, and quite attractive.

Thanks David. Does this model have a name? Any idea what it's worth. I'm not planning to sell it, because it will be a nice addition to my collection. But, it's always good to have all the information!

Thanks again!

Dave,

I think my pencil is identical, albeit not blue and without that star. (Mine obviously has more wear and tear than yours). I really like it and use it all the time. I'll watch this thread too in case someone comes up with more information.
