Request For Images: Vintage Aurora 88

Andy

Recommended Posts

I've read the pinned "Aurora Dynasty" article- lovely bit of work- and now I'm intrigued. I've gone through most of my FP reference books, and have come away with very, very few images of the vintage 88 & related models (88, 88K, Duocart, 888, 88P, 888P, and the 98).

Does anyone have a few images of the various styles and evolutions that they wouldn't mind sharing? Pretty please? :)

I know, I am really late in updating that post with my collection photographs. But lately my life keep spinning.

I think you got already a nice selection of 88s, Ks and Ps here. I'll add some pics I already uploaded somewhere here:

Nice shots, Diplo! I've seen those before, but they never get old. Particularly love the one showing the nibs/sections/piston reservoirs. ;)

Hey, in that last shot, what's the story on the pen that's second from the top, between the Royal and the Auretta?

Andy, here's a couple of my own images that I shot recently (originally posted on my blog, and in a sales post). It's an Aurora 88P with the chrome cap, and a nice (somewhat rigid) 14K (F) nib. Nice pen, but a little too slender for me. I'll be on the lookout for a Nikargenta-capped Aurora 88/88K with a springy (XF/F) nib sometime soon, as that 1mm of extra width in the body really made a big difference for me.

Thank you Ryan. They are vintage shots by now ;)

It's a "For-Ever", an interesting school pen that I found on a flea market here. It's a piston filler with removable barrel (I know that it sounds strange, but it is not a captive converter) and a huge ink window. Has a nice fine to extra fine steel nib. Now it is the pleasure of another FPN member.

Is this the same as the “Aquila 88K”?

Andy, to me the name "Aquila 88K" it's just a collector's name of the gold filled overlay 88K.

Ciao,

Wow Daniele, your website was a source of inspiration for me to build my small A88&Derivative collection.

Congratulations.
